DAN BURMAN
Dan presents a photographic series, which traces his visit to the West Bank in 2009. As a young Jewish man, he took up the offer of a Birthright trip to Israel. Whilst there, he felt disturbed by the inconsistencies he saw within its society.
Compelled to seek out the truth, he subsequently booked a trip to Palestine to see the reality for himself. These images take us on his journey of discovery of the West Bank - its people, its landscape and its culture.

This piece represents the resilience, hope and beauty that continues to grow even through the darkest times. The broken pieces of porcelain symbolise shattered lives and destruction. The sharp and twisted wire that they sit in constrains and challenges the clay representing those trapped and without freedom.
PALESTINIAN STORIES
Lucy Lyon
Lucy Lyon is a documentary film maker, photographer and journalist who has spent the past 20 years with a focus on the Arab World and Afghanistan. The majority of her work has been for international humanitarian and cultural organisations, creating stories which focus on the courage of ordinary people living in extraordinarily difficult conditions. Lucy’s work focuses on stories which help us to understand our mutual humanity, and to find a connection with other people.
Lucy's films shown at this festival were commissioned by UNRWA and filmed in Gaza and the West Bank between 2018 and 2020.
